I'm finding that preparing the soil is a huge job... much harder than I expected. Removing the rocks is the worst

I don't remember the name of the tool we used, but we needed it in our attempt to remove rocks. There were two or three we could not remove, so we left them there, I painted them and planted flowers around them.

Never used this, but went through a ton of Miracle Grow.

This is very hard work. Been there, done that. It was then that I started noticing all of the farmer's markets in the area. I was never a prepper.

Re: "I'll bet his GARDEN is bigger than De's garden."
I wouldn't be at all surprised. I'm finding that preparing the soil is a huge job... much harder than I expected. Removing the rocks is the worst, but then I'm also adding compost, horse manure and urea (the most bang for the buck, I think, if you need nitrogen), and making trellises out of tree limbs.

At this point, my garden has 3 varieties of tomato, radishes, chives, 4 types of lettuce, 2 types of pepper, spinach, two types of green beans (one of which is gold, not green), yellow zucchini and peas. Many of these are recently planted seeds, though. I don't know how well they'll do. Some of them are Burpee seeds prepared for 2018. They might not germinate - but I'll known soon enough to still be able to plant other things in the same spots if I have to.

My "Survival pack" of heirloom seeds was prepared for 2019 and should be good for several years. I already found that some of those seeds didn't sprout. The eggplant, for instance.
