There has not been a single quality study that showed hydroxychloroquine to be even as dangerous as aspirin. My guess is that the drug is being pulled to embarrass President Trump and/or to allow biopharmas to make billions by selling expensive alternatives.

Hydroxychloroquine has been around for 50 years with a remarkable record for safety. It clearly works if it is taken with zinc and taken early - BEFORE hospitalization is needed. It is, after all, an antiviral. It doesn't do much good once COVID-19 has already destroyed the lungs. Every "study" done so far has evaluated at hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for admitted or even ICU'ed patients.

Hydroxychloroquine: FDA pulls emergency use of malaria drug touted by Trump to treat the coronavirus

The agency said Monday that the drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are unlikely to be effective in treating the coronavirus. Citing reports of heart complications, the FDA said the drugs pose a greater risk to patients than any potential benefits.
