...a friend from Louisiana told me that once ya realize that your gonna get in trouble no matter what ya do, ya might as well just do whatever ya want to.

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!

I guess this is some sort of a holiday. I only know because I received a package from Amazon yesterday… a gift from my mother-in-law and she sends presents diligently on birthdays and holidays. So it's Fathers' Day. Not that it much matters. My wife and son are away. However, it does mean that stores have sales. In the case of my local grocery store, they're running a 3-day sale that ends today on eggplant, squash, corn on the cob and baby back ribs. I decided to take advantage of it and headed into town.

On the way there, I unexpectedly passed a yard sale and decided to stop. I have a pretty much endless need for garden hoses and I was really hoping that there might be some. No such luck. But the guy did have a box of what appeared to be stereo components and wires. I could see several 8 inch Yamaha speakers and thought they would be nice inside the barn. "How much?" I asked the older gentleman.

"Mmmm... $25" he said.

I took a look inside my wallet. Yeah, I had enough money. There appeared to be a receiver beneath the speakers and I figured that even if it doesn't work, the speaker cables alone are nearly worth the price. "How about $20?" I asked.

"Sure, okay," he said. "You know, I'm not even sure what's in there."

I laughed. "And I don't know if any of it is any good," I said. "But I can use the speaker wire."

I paid him and loaded the sizable box into the back of my truck.

I got behind the wheel as a frumpy, middle-aged woman who could've been either a wife or a daughter came outside. I could hear him mumbling something to her, probably telling her what he'd sold. And then I heard something that every married man is far too familiar with. She exclaimed loudly, "WHAT???????!!!!"

Ahh, it's nice to be on this end of that sound! I smiled politely as the woman glared, and drove off. I suspect that the stereo works.
