US figures didn't just go up last week. They actually accelerated.
So I doubt what we saw was a peak.
Sunday is the low day in nearly every week, so I expect the US will crack 50k new cases in the next four or five days. Then, hopefully in the week after, mask ordinances and suchlike will have an effect.
The coronavirus met the first amendment and found it very cosy.
Turns out the harm principle works better during pandemics.
