Re: "The coronavirus may actually be a vascular – and not a respiratory – disease"
This has been known for a while. The reason respirators do more harm than good is that COVID 19 destroys the spaces in the lungs that allow the alveoli sacs to expand and take in oxygen, filling those spaces with clots. Pressurized air inflates the lungs but does little to get more oxygen into the blood. It does stress the lungs themselves.

Meanwhile, because the blood isn't sufficiently oxygenated, the heart pumps harder in an attempt to push more blood through the lungs and can overexert itself.

Unpressurized O2 is the preferred therapy today.

The clots aren't limited to the lungs; it's just where they first manifest themselves. The kidneys are next. Then the liver. Then more. (Note that Prince Charles has lost his senses of smell and taste. That's neurological damage and may well be permanent.) It's a nasty, nasty disease with the potential to damage EVERY organ.

The root problem looks to be coagulopathy... clotting... and that's a vascular problem. I spoke of this a bit in April.
