Apparently the government is going to give households vouchers for home insulation. £5,000.

That is very clever.

Creates jobs.

Helps the economy.

Saves electricity.

Makes people warmer in winter.

Reduces emissions.

Takes advantage of almost interest free borrowing costs.

Increases the value of houses.

In America they call this socialism. But it's just a common good which benefits property owners, people living in houses, insulation service providers, everyone in the UK, the money supply and the planet.

Glad they are trying out ideas, rather than labelling them on a purity test basis. We're back in a place in the economic cycle in which governments can jump start the economy, then gradually withdraw as private enterprise fills the gap.

Hope they decide domestic windmills and watermills make sense too. Dream on. But domestic power would be less vulnerable during a war and can contribute to the network when there is a household surplus.
