NY Adds 3 States To Travel Advisory Requiring 14-Day Quarantine
Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday said the states all have significant community spread of the coronavirus.
NEW YORK, NY — New York added three more states to its travel advisory, and now people traveling from 19 states will have to quarantine for 14 days. Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday said Delaware, Kansas and Oklahoma now meet the state's metrics to qualify for the advisory.
The quarantine applies to any person arriving from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a seven-day rolling average or a state with a 10 percent or higher positivity rate over a seven-day rolling average.
"As states around the country experience increasing community spread, New York is taking action to ensure the continued safety of our phased reopening," Cuomo said in a news release. "Our entire response to this pandemic has been by the numbers, and we've set metrics for community spread just as we set metrics for everything."
The announcement comes as 10 people died from the COVID-19 disease, which is caused by the coronavirus. About 1 percent of tests conducted in the state Monday were positive.
