Re: "A veto-proof majority of the Seattle City Council backed a proposal Thursday to defund the Seattle Police Department by 50% — including a proposal to remove 911 dispatchers from police control and to “imagine life beyond policing.”"
I was watching a COVID-19 video yesterday and the the speaker strayed off topic a bit and began talking about political changes being imposed on people in America's cities and suburbs. Then he said he believes COVID-19 is not going to go away - people who have had it are catching it again in as little as 3 months. 14 percent of patients who test positive for the antibodies test negative a few weeks later... which means they can catch it again and that there will never be any "herd immunity." He said he thinks more and more people will be leaving cities and moving to the country. Through all of this I'm going "Yup... yup... yup...." Then he said, "I've already done this - and I did it before the pandemic. I can hardly believe my timing - which was perfect for avoiding the disease." And I was then going "Yup, and ABSOLUTELY."

Living in the country is harder, but incredibly fulfilling. Every day brings something new and interesting. Yesterday it was a predicted thunderstorm expected to drop quarter sized hail, with anticipated car damage. We rushed to erect a tent garage that's been sitting unopened for 9 months and put my wife's car into it. (The hail storm was a bust, btw. No hail.) Today, when I was working in the garden, I heard a huge "crack" and "THUD!" from the woods. A tree fell. It must have been a big one. The odd part was that today's weather is perfect. No rain... no clouds... no wind. Why didn't it fall yesterday when we had all three?

If I'd been in any of my previous houses, a fallen tree would have been a big deal - maybe even a crisis. Out here, though? No problem; it's just interesting. I love nature.
