My lettuce experiment did not go well. Three of the four rotted away and got thrown out. The same fate awaits number four.

This plant, the best of the bunch, grew spindly and cannot even support itself. As you can see, part of it is rotting and it never grew roots.

I am probably to blame. I saw something saying that the water lettuce is in should be changed daily. I didn't do that, often waiting four or five days and changing it once it was green. That can't be good for a plant. I will try the experiment again sometime down the road.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Two weeks into this experiment. I've added three more lettuce cores. That makes five lettuce, one cabbage.

I expect the originals to grow more rapidly now.
