Leonard Cohen’s Estate Slams GOP For Using ‘Hallelujah’ At RNC
The legendary singer’s estate said it had specifically denied permission to use the song and was considering legal action.

But the last laugh is on them as they billed "Hallelujah" as a great 'Christian-inspired' song, that was played during the post-Trump acceptance speech fireworks display over the National Mall. What Trump's base probably was not aware of was that this song was written by a Canadian Jew and it was about having SEX, and the 'Hallelujah' parts were NOT an expression of 'Christian inspiration' but rather of orgasmic release.
I mean, how would you interpret this verse from the song:

What's really going on below

But remember when I moved in you

and every breath we drew was hallelujah.
Now the Cohen estate said that if the campaign had asked to use the song 'You Want it Darker', also written by Leonard Cohen, they would have gladly given them permission.
