Aside from that, I just wasted a lot of money. I had a statement in my deed that says I have a right to access my property via an ancient, no longer visible private road that goes between two houses. I wanted a lawyer a to confirm it before I started driving on someone's lawn. After an initially optimistic opinion, his final verdict was "You can't do it. You'll be sued and would probably have to pay fifty or sixty thousand dollars. That'll be $1,300, thank you. Cash or credit?"

The reason the easement is no longer valid is a little like squatters' rights. The easement to drive the road was legitimate enough when it was granted in 1961, but a court would likely say that it is expired after not being used for 20+ years. It's still in my deed, though. I wish it wasn't. BUMMER.

I'm working on posting 50+ photos showing home construction progress from the ground up. Hopefully fairly soon.
