You know, I don't even know how to field dress a deer, much less butcher one. I participated in both about ten years ago, but I'd make a mess of it for sure if I were trying to do it on my own today. Next year, I expect to be in the new house and hunting the property. It'll be embarrassing (but possibly entertaining for you guys.)
My wife can outshoot me. I can't seem to get the mice out of my attic. I had to buy a new snow blower because I don't know how to unclog the old one that I STUPIDLY let sit for a year with ethanol fuel inside. I'm waaaaay behind schedule on getting the barn organized (not entirely my fault... parts of it are still being built). And I'm so far from being able to go 'off the grid' that it's not even funny.
Moving to the country is an outstanding way of assessing one's general competence. And I can't even feed myself.
