a hypothetical President Biden could certainly fire the man. But doing so would make Biden look fearful of the outcome. The political damage would likely be catastrophic. 

...the dems would refer to it as "ending a politically motivated witch hunt" He would be lauded as a hero and hunter would be a martyr. The MSM would carry their water for them.

I think Biden would have to await the verdict and then pardon his son. Democrats may demand that he then resign. Or they may not. They don't exactly have high ethical expectations for their officials, after all.
