As an accident of war, Lincoln freed the slaves and became a martyr. Had those things not happened, he'd be despised to this day. The man oversaw a war that killed 15% of our nation's young men, maimed countless others and burned half of the country to the ground. If states want to leave the Union, LET THEM LEAVE. They'd have to pay for unowned infrastructure they're taking with them, of course... but if they can work that out, they should be allowed to secede. You don't kill them for it.

I didn't expect you, an Ohioan who may have even had ancestors who fought Lincoln's cause, to like the article. Perhaps those who are on the fence about the man will be swayed by it, though.

I suspect that his bias and contempt for the man influences his thinking...

WORST arsticle I have ever read coming from the American Thinker. This one was clearly not thought out by a rational mind and smears a man whose actions ultimately preseved a Nation that went on to become the greatest nation in the entire world.. instead of two halves that amounted to nothing on their own...

But then again, its more fun to sit at his table 160 years after the fact and be a critic with nobody challenging his obvious hatred of Lincoln and what actually was accomplished for the nation as a whole.

I am no fan of war. I suspect Ribs is not either after having seen the sights and being in one. And the civil conflict was even a more gruesome and jhorrendous affair wwith the weaponry tht was used to just rip and tear apart human beings with poor to useless medical means to really help those soldier combatants.

I am sorry. The author has royally pizzed me off. I suggest he may want to leave the country since Lincoln was sucgh a horrible President..

Personally, I would love to meet Lincoln and spend some time with him. I can tell this cretin has not read many of Lincoln's autobigraphies nor spent time learning about the man he hates so much..

I have an entire library shelf full of noting but Lincoln books and three more shelves of Civil War books alone. Maybe he should spend some more time learning about someone and what they did and why their reasoning was what it was before arbitrarily ripping one of the greatest men to ever occupy the White House and seeking a way to restore and unite a nation torn by the sin of slavery at its core...

I look forward to meeting and talking with Abraham Lincoln in heaven one day.. He was a devout believer and he spent much of his time on his knees inprayer seeking counsel from the most high Lord God.. I am confident the moment Wilkes Booth, hero to the author apparently, cowardly shot him in the bacse of his head from behind, that he immediately after dying went to be in the Lord's resence for the rest of eternity..

sorry for the length. I can tell this idiot knows almost nothing aout Lincoln..
