I went to my orthopedic doctor about my knee and where do we go from here this morning. We talked about it and he has sent me down the hall to the knee replaement doctor who also replaced my wife's knee some 7 years ago...
He is very good. He looked at the MRI and X Rays and asked me if I would consider taking some injections in that joint and see if we can buy a little time on replacing it.. This could help and stave off the surgery for maybe a year..
I said sure we can try.. So I had what seemed like a half mile long needle put into the side of my knee joint and the tube was filled with cortisone and some numbing me, likely lidocaine.. The needle going in wasn;t bad but when they unloaded all the stuff in the tube that's when it got rather uncomfortable.
They are asking permission to try lubricant injections from Chicken fat to help with lubricating what is left of the cartilege. After my medicare supplement plan authorized that I will have that done as well.. They may not approve it but we will see.
So this frees me up to move forward with the spine doctors at MAyfield Clinic in cincinnati. I see my doc on January 7 for first time and we will go from there.
If I could just get one of these constant pain throbbing centers to cease then maybe the other would not be as noticeable is my thought... SO, I have put off knee replacement for a little while hopefully.
