Re: “WHY ? She wants to sit up higher. Yep. You can't make it up...”
The Highlander is my wife's car, so I asked her. She said "I like it. I don't feel like I'm as low as in a sedan, and it's not as high as [De's] truck. I don't feel like I have to climb into it."

Okay, so that's what she says. Oddly enough, the one and only criticism I have of the car is that getting in on the driver's side is hard for me. I have to lean WAAAAY forward or my afro scrapes on the cross-bar over the door. Maybe that's because of how she adjusts the seat - I don't know, but she's a little thing who always sets the seat way forward.

The all-wheel drive is great. She's able to get around in the driveway even if there's six inches of snow.

We have had a problem twice with the gas cap hood freezing shut... to where it almost has to be pried open. The blame for that can be divided between freaky wet/cold weather and a design defect. It hasn't happened with our other cars and, both times, we did eventually get the hood to open. But it's an annoying thing to have happen when you're at a rural gas station late at night.

But we're very happy with the Highlander. I'd definitely buy it again. Very comfortable car.

We paid a hair less than $30,000 for our Highlander LE (the low end model)... thanks to the blessings of living in a sales tax free state. And we paid another $500 for a 5-year undercoat offered by the dealer. Remember that I'd just lost the transmission on the truck due to corrosion caused by road salt, so I was gung-ho on undercoating. I thought that was a good deal for 5 years of protection; an oil undercoat that lasts just one season is at least $100. I think that was in August, 2019 and the car we bought was indeed a 2019 model.

The "high end" Highlander, at the time, had heated seats, a sun roof, and some other frills that we didn't need. We flat-out didn't want the sun roof. I hear that they tend to leak.

A quick look online reveals 2021 Toyota Highlander LE SUV. MSRP:$40,608; Savings:$2,970; The price listed by our Toyota dealer:
$37,638.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Talk to me please.

I am starting the search for a replacement mid size SUV for myself and miz micro in particular.. I love my sedan so she will mostly do the driving in the next vehicle.

I have a 2004 Kia Optima LX with just at 100,000 original miles on it, runs perfect, no problems, new Tires, General Altimax RT43 all around, new brakes, struts/shocks, and is in pretty nice condition..

I will be selling it myself to someone.. Cheap. It's white with a Beige interior..

Anyway, De and Beldin are two Highlander users that could be helpful to me. I am also considering a Buick Envision, Chevy Equinox, Nissan Rogue SL. Model year would be likely 2018 not brand new..
I also do NOT want AWD but prefer FWD here as snowfall and traction are not issues on the mason dixon line just like itis not an issue where Sir Beldin lives...

De on the other hand knows what snowfall really is...

I would like to hear comments and thoughts about the vehicles as I am beginning the look for my wife..

WHY ? She wants to sit up higher. Yep. You can't make it up... I'd have been glad to buy her a New Sedan of her choice but nope, she wants to be up higher so it has to be an SUV. Sheesh..

SO, I am all ears gang! I do read quite a bit all the automotive magazines and reviews but ownership is a whole other ballgame and better feedback....

Thanks in advance!

micro Thumbs Up Very Happy
