THat is my chief observation about Toyota vehicles. Honda as well. Which is why I like Hyundai but am willing to look at the big brand names...

Another contender would be the Buick Envision. A used one that is a couple of years old is affordable and does not need to be the top of that line to be nicely equipped..

It would just be nice to get miz micro to be an active participant as this is for her and not me.

I'm a doer and not a procrastinator. This hem hawing around drives me insane..

Re: Undercoating.. Good idea... I had my Sonata nercoated snf dound deadened using the same stuff they use to line truck beds.. Its tough and lasts a very long time. The inside of the doors are all sprayed with oil as well so there will not be any rusting inside out either.

Its unfortunate we have those issues in snow states.

But ya got to be smarter than the elemnts if ya want yer car to not look like rusty swiss cheese after a few years...

I checked on my 2019 posts and saw we paid $29,500 for a $34,000 MSRP car. At the time, I was concerned that the new tariffs on Chinese goods would trickle through to Japanese cars. Looks like we may have been right since the MSRP on the 2021 model is $6,600 higher. Also, August may have been the right time to buy. I think it's near the end of the model year and most dealers have heavy discounts on their automobiles.

One of my complaints at the time was that Toyota put $99 speakers into a $34,000 car. I still feel that way. I like loud music, and I've been in cars that have fantastic sound. The Highlander LE isn't one of them. The more expensive model had substantially better speakers - but, if I remember correctly, its MSRP was about $5,000 more than the Highlander LE's. We already told you what some of the extra features of that more expensive model were. For us, they weren't worth it.
