Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

I received one of these gadgets from my son, and I am impressed.

For starters, I'll point out that it does not replace my Google Chrome. Not yet, anyway. I have the Google Chrome plugged into one of the TV's hdmi ports, and the Fire TV Stick plugged into another. So the two are not incompatible. But I think the only reason to keep the Google Chrome is for watchnewslive.tv. Everything else I do with the Chrome can be done more easily and BETTER with the Amazon device.

The Fire Stick Lite is just $17.99. Get it here: https://www.amazon.com/fire-tv-stick-lite/dp/B07YNLBS7R

It doesn't use a computer at all. The Google Chrome sometimes put a noticeable drag on my laptop's performance (mostly due to network contention). And when the laptop was really busy, it put a big hit on the performance of the Chrome. So there alone, I have reason to switch.

See the microphone button on the Fire Stick's remote? That's sweet - since the remote has no microphone. What Amazon did was to tie together my TV, the remote, and an Amazon Echo that I already own. When I push the mike button on the remote, the Echo listens to what I say, passes it to Amazon, which figures it out and tells the dongle on my TV what to do. Very cool!

Now, when I want to watch a show, I push the button on the remote and say "Play CBS News". Or "Play Last Man Standing Season 4 Episode 17 on Hulu" and it happens. No more menus to scroll through! I can also tell it to "Back Up 30 seconds" and whatever I'm streaming will repeat... (if it's not live, I assume).

Neat new gadget and it runs less than a twenty-spot.

Amazon Echo, btw, starts at $30. You don't HAVE to have one to use the fire stick, but the two are designed to work together and having them both makes controlling the TV soooo nice.
