Assaults take about 3secs to happen, and you got about 15-20 secs to respond, IF YOU ARE LUCKY. It is not an environment where these idiots will be able to respond. They think they’ll be able to take out and hold their gun and go around “protecting themselves.” That is a best case scenario unlikely to happen if someone has it out for them. They are just plain stupid for politicians in the public domain. Not saying they shouldn’t carry, but they should at least know their realistic chances in different situations.
That is one thing to always think about, and if you conceal carry, awareness of surroundings is NO 1 survival item, the highest of anything in a self defense list. In a civil society it is nearly impossible to live that way, unless you have reasons to fear something like that, and for common folk when they are in crime infested areas, etc. But, someone coming for you is nearly impossible to defend against, in my opinion. A gun is only good if you can use it when you have to. If you are the target, you will most likely never get the chance. That is what what these macho bozos don’t understand.
Beyond that carrying in the Senate and House chambers is a plain NO NO in my book. They are a place for the exchange of ideas not bullets.
