"This is especially confusing given the newsroom's welcome efforts over the last year to cover issues related to race an a more intentional, elevated, thoughtful way," another staffer responded.

So, THAT is what they call deliberately lying to the American People?

Ben Shapiro was the guest author of the Politico Playbook today, and — let’s just say it caused some internal strife:

Max Tani ~ There's been some internal pushback to Ben Shapiro authorship of Playbook today. A few messages that were shared and upvoted in Politico's internal Slack today:

ErikWemple ~ Politico has released a statement on the backlash against using @benshapiro as a guest-writer for Playbook. It says, "we rise above partisanship and ideological warfare."

Apparently the internal backlash was so intense that Politico’s editor-in-chief decided to hash everything out in a conference call:

Brian Stelter ~ Politico's EIC just announced a 3pm call with the newsroom, presumably to address today's complaints.

And ya know what the Politico Editor-in-Chief should say at this meeting, Taterhead? He should say, "Thank you all for attending. I'll keep this brief. Anyone who is upset about Ben Shapiro having a turn to be Politico's Playbook guest-author-for-a-day is a whiny, sniveling lil' pussy. That's it ... now get back to work."

ErikWemple ~ There are now upwards of 225 people on the @politico Zoom call convened to hash out the decision to invite @benshapiro to guest-write an edition of Playbook. People are very mad, I am hearing.

Wow, the unapproved thought that was expressed in Playbook this morning apparently caused some triggering:

Frank J. Fleming ~ I think we can unironically call these sorts of people "snowflakes."

Stephen L. Miller ~ "You can't sit with us."

Rohit ~ People seriously can’t handle Politico publishing an opposing view. Come on.

The blowback is also fairly telling:

Abigail Marone ~ The best part about this, is that politico employees are literally proving Shapiro's point in Playbook.

And Shapiro pointed that out perfectly:

Ben Shapiro ~ My point: conservatives believe that Leftists want to ostracize them as evil, and then shut them down.

Politico staff: conservatives ought to be ostracized as evil and then shut down.

Some Politico personnel couldn’t have helped make Shapiro’s point any better!

Ryan ~ When you hire toddlers in the newsroom, this is what you get.

Chuck Ross ~ Journalists are delicate.

Chris Hartline ~ It says everything you need to know about the state of media today that journalists are having a meltdown because Politico would DARE have one conservative guest-edit Playbook after having Chris Hayes and a cadre of liberal journalists guest-edit over the last few weeks.

We expected nothing less from today’s “journalism” culture.
