All we know right now is that other things being equal, one of his two top picks has made him an offer that'll be hard to beat.

BTW, we haven't shared the news yet with Facebook friends. We don't want other universities to be influenced by the Wisconsin offer so we aren't announcing it. Joey has until mid-March to accept the offer, so most of our friends won't hear the news until then. Consider yourselves fortunate.

Wow! Congratulations, DE. I am still confused about getting a Ph.D without getting a Master's Degree first.
But we both did google it and it seems that his future employer would be the one/s to decide the necessity of that.
