You and I are going to have to disagree on this point.
'Society' needs babies to make future taxpayers. And
heterosexual marriages seem to do the best job of
producing them. So, why shouldn't 'society' grant
tax breaks for the expense of producing that which
society needs?

And then, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't darn
near every human 'society' have something resembling
'marriage' between a guy and a girl and some societal
benefits from it? Can all those societies have been
wrong?

Re: “I see absolutely no point in granting tax breaks for it.”
I see no point in granting tax breaks for a person's lifestyle - and that includes heterosexual marriage.

If a person doesn't want to marry, or doesn't want to marry early, or is ugly and can't get a date, why should the I.R.S. punish that person? That's what our tax code is doing. It's unfair and it's wrong.
