Beats me. I'm not knowledgeable about very many societies.

But even if you ARE right (and I'm not saying you are), it really doesn't matter. People are sovereign. It sounds like you view them as cogs in a more important 'machine.' If so, the two of us have a fundamental disagreement.

Decomposed > If a person doesn't want to marry, or doesn't want to marry early, or is ugly and can't get a date, why should the I.R.S. punish that person? That's what our tax code is doing. It's unfair and it's wrong.


You and I are going to have to disagree on this point.
'Society' needs babies to make future taxpayers. And
heterosexual marriages seem to do the best job of
producing them. So, why shouldn't 'society' grant
tax breaks for the expense of producing that which
society needs?

And then, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't darn
near every human 'society' have something resembling
'marriage' between a guy and a girl and some societal
benefits from it? Can all those societies have been
wrong?
