It’s always darkly amusing when a far left Democrat comes face to face with an even crazier example of the Left. It usually happens at the municipal level. Portland, Oregon Mayor Ted Wheeler has recently had to eat his words of last year on the riots. In 2020 he was supporting the urban thugs of Antifa and Black Lives Matter who were terrorizing his city.
But when they got up close and personal with him because he wasn’t leftist enough for their taste, they had a parting of ways. Now he sounds like old Mayor Daley when it comes to protesters. Which leads us to Chicago.
The current left-wing Democrat mayor there is coming up against the insatiably avaricious demands of perhaps the worst public group in America, teachers unions.
These unions teach our children Bolshevik bilge then expect to be compensated like CEOs for doing it. The reality of municipal finances doesn’t allow Mayor Lightfoot to do that, even if she wanted to, which she doesn’t. But that doesn’t stop the teachers union from holding her, families, students, and the local education system hostage until they get their way.
This has prompted a realization by Lightfoot, that this union wants raw political power to do as it pleases and won’t stop until that is achieved at her expense.
