For his very competent handling of coronavirus during those darkest of days last March-April.
As for the nursing home stuff, everyone agreed at the time to send recovering people back to where they came from to free hospital beds which were NOT AVAILABLE at the time for new incoming patients. That may have led to more infection in nursing homes and was stopped eventually. It was a mistake no one can be blamed for. We knew so little about covid and NY was in panic emergency mode, trailer truck morgues, sirens around the clock, people locked in their homes and apartments, death everywhere. The main problem is that lack of adequate information as to nursing home deaths was not given to “the public.” It was prioritized to be given to DOJ, and the New York assembly was NOTIFIED of that. So, people died of covid, and as to whether they died at the hospital of the nursing home/facilities is basically IRRELEVANT.
NYorkers are not stupid. 61% says so.
