Last night was not a good night. For whatever reason, I had taken my TWO pain pills and went to lay down in my own bed alongside miz micro... Fortunately it is a large bed and fully adjustable. The mattress is a Beauty Rest Black Orthopedic 15 inch thick HYBRID with lots of coil springs in the pelvic area so the mattress does not develp low spots or sink holes, like some of our former ones did. I laid flat on my back as usual. The right leg was reasonably good when I went to bed. I tried after awhile adjusting the foot end of the bed up thinking it may help with swelling and drain off some water. All it did was cutoff what little blood flow I have. So now I have a tremendous aching and throbbing in my calf. I tried laying on my left side. That felt good fro about five minutes. It's my normal sleep position before surgery. My left hip decided it did not like that and my right hip also joined the chorus singing loudly and voicing its disapproval. TWO percocet made NO DIFFERENCE in slowing down this pain. Almost useless. I put a thin bed pillow under my right calf for gentle elevation laing on my back. That worked for a few minutes. Then it didn't. I do not know why... So I tossed, turned, styood up and walked numerous times all night long with my walker trying to get some blood flow and pain subsiding. I tried three differen recliners, one loveseat, the sofa as well. No good. SO, I guess I would like to know if anyone else has had a battle with lack of blood flow in a lower extremity before and how did that go??? I am really getting worn out from this. I need some relief and am not getting any. Wonder if the SHOT right knee which doc said MUST be replaced but see if we can put off till later in year is causing some of this.. I am bone on bone with NO cartilage and razor thin meniscus remaining. It jus has a continual ache all the time and occasional throbbing if I am walking too much trying to exercise that leg. If anyone knows something about this from prior experience I would be delighted to learn how it goes. I keep having fear come over my mind that I will lose the leg or that is not fixable and will be like this the rest of my life... Tomorrow afternoon I see a vascular surgeon for this leg.. I hope he may be able to solve the blood flow issue and oxygen deprivation. This has never happened before in prior ten surgeries and previous major spine repair surgery.. SO I am unsure why it is happening now..
Thanks for any insights you may be able to share.. I usually heal very quickly so this is abnormal leaving me basically crippled.. I can't walk without assistance from walker. and I do not like it..... |
