What a difference a day makes.

I spent about thirty minutes with a vascular surgeon yesterday afternoon. Had to walk darn near a quarter mile to get from car to his office...

He said he could not imagine there being a blood clot after two different tests showed none. So eliminating that as the reason for why I have such poor circulation in my right leg..

He was great to listen to though.. A little younger than me but somewhere in his late 50's. No novice...

He asked me about compression sock for that leg. Then wrote a specification out for a compresion sock that would help and give the medical pharmacy up the street enough info to help get me fitted..

He did say that the pains in my right leg likely were from the surgery.. Especially in light of the fact I have three different incision sites and one site has three different openings. (right of center low back) Other two are on far extreme side of both sides of back, almost on my sides... He thinks a nerve is sending signals because he canot find any other reason for me to have this..

Back to the socks.... So we stopped by the pharmacy which actually is a formulating pharmacy and largemedical supplies place. Biggest in Cincinnati. A kind employee met us as we came in and looked at the note and specs the doctor had written and took us back to wher they had an entire 20 foot long wall of compression socks from top to bottom of that wall. All kinds....
After checking how TIGHT these things were as they do come in various squeee pressures, I told her that if these hurt me I will not wear them.. NOT TOO tight.. Somne squeeze but not mind blowing compression... I am not up to that right now.. Tired of being in lots of pain from multiple places like my spinal surgery, destroyed right knee, large hernia on left side. Enough is enough..

So we settle on this one sock which is compressing noticeably but not killing me.. I wore it all the rest of the afternoon and early evening yesterday.

My CALF on right leg felt really good. Better circulation and greatly reduced shooting pains.

I slept some last night. Like four hours in one stretch.. WOW. That hasn't happened since I came home with two percocet in me...

I took ONE pain pill all day yesterday and that was before bed. Total.. WIll see if I need ANY at all today. Hopefully not... PROGRESS!!!! Finally..

So I have my compression sock this morning and foot swelling has gone away and leg is back to normal size again with blood flowing through my veins. I actually am wearing my normal slipper moccasins. They would not fit on my foot until yesterday... Victories come in various types... Thank God for the even the small ones..

SO, today begins a new era of recovery for me.. I am actually happy and optimistic..

I want to get a KNEE support formy right knee that just is a pull over knee compression.. I think it may help stabilize that thing. SO my wonderful wife will head out this morning to see about rounding one up..

I now have some hope of getting rid of the leg circulation problems without intervention surgically and speed up my healing.

Improvement.. First doctor who saw through the problem and used his brain to solve problem thathas goneon since I have been home from surgery... And it was something simple... NOBODY has told me to get compresion socks. I think that kinda borders on stupidity and malpractice..

Oh well. Time to get well.. Leave the past behind...

happy camper for right now...
