President Donald Trump is reportedly planning a potential 2024 run for President – having already been considered the presumptive nominee by several polls – without former Vice President Mike Pence as his running mate.
“If Trump runs again, people close to him don’t think Pence will be on the ticket,” wrote journalist Jennifer Jacobs. “Advisers have discussed identifying a black or female running mate for his possible next run.”
According to Jacobs, “Two advisers have suggested Trump consider South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, the people said. Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, are hosting a fundraiser for Noem on Friday at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and home in Palm Beach.” They also revealed that President Trump plans on “making an appearance” at the event.
However, Trump adviser Jason Miller, who has been virtually the only member of President Trump’s inner circle to speak on the record about President Trump’s future plans, denies that the former President has made any decisions at all about 2024.
“No such conversations are happening,” asserted Miller, who added that President Trump “hasn’t made any decisions regarding a potential 2024 run.”
Bloomberg notes that a Pence spokesman did not respond when asked for comment. National File attempted to contact Marc Short, Pence’s former Chief of Staff and longtime political handler, and did not receive a response.
After initially attempting to distance himself from President Trump and his base, Pence has recently attempted to court the voters he expressed scorn for in the days immediately following January 6.
Recently, Dr. Peter Navarro, who formerly served as Assistant to the President for President Trump, described Pence’s decision not to challenge the electoral votes from six states where credible accusations of widespread voter fraud ran rampant as running away from both President Trump and the U.S. Constitution. Additionally, Navarro described Short as one of the most anti-MAGA individuals Pence could have chosen to associate with.
“Marc Short is a tool of the Koch brothers,” Navarro began. “The Koch brothers are the biggest anti-MAGA movement in the whole entire Republican Party… Marc Short in 2016, pitched an idea to the Koch brothers where he was going to wipe out the Donald in Super Tuesday, he worked for Rubio.”
“He came into that White House, he was incompetent, he failed as the legislative director, he failed running the task force for the vice president, and he did tremendous damage,” Navarro explained. “What he would always do is block whatever MAGA things they wanted to get done. He really was responsible for some of the failures.”
