Well De,
I just went to protonmail, and tried sending myself
a message with pictures.
Down at the bottom there was a paper clip icon.
When I clicked that it brought up the dialog box
from which one can 'file attach' something. I
selected a picture on my hard drive, and it asked
if I wanted to file attach it, or 'inline' it. So
I tried 'inline' and it put the picture in the middle
of the message.
Next I tried what I do on yahoo mail all the time.
I copied a piece of graphic out of a picture, with
the snipping tool, and pasted it into the message.
That worked well too.
I should see the end result next time I go to my yahoo mail.
