I was exchanging e-mails with a liberal friend who was the first person I know to have been fully vaccinated. He was rather proud of being "fully protected" so soon, but flipped out when I told him he'd have to get a booster shot in six months. He said indignantly, "doctors have NOT said anything to me about needing more shots!" He's sure that he's now vaccinated for life.

That prompted me to look into what is being said about booster vaccines. So far, he's right that nobody reputable is saying that they will be needed. But I did find an article that said that while today's vaccines are effective against both the South Africa variant and the U.K variant, they are LESS effective against them than against the original virus. I found a second that says there are now "thousands" of variants of the original virus, with new ones forming each day. My conclusion that booster vaccines will be needed is supported. I don't know about "in six months." But I've got my email conversation with my liberal friend saved and I will surely remind him of it when the mainstream media starts discussing the need for those boosters.
