1. It isn't the percentage of profit. I do hope you calculated how many hours of labor you had in the boat and multiplied that by around $75 dollars/hour on the cheap side not including cost of obtaining benefits. Otherwise your figure is useless. You are essentially then working for free.

2. Try to realize I am not ripping you. Trying to help you realize there is a reason besides "you do good work" that people can't wait to get over there to buy the boat you listed, pay for it and run.... It's because they know you underpriced it by a LOT and want to get it before you change your mind...

3. Let's see now. This post of yours about a crappy little Livingston. I am happy you made some money hopefully and that you did not have $1500 dollars worth of time and labor into fixing this up beside what you paid for it..

You sold a much better boat, a TRACKER, for $1,000 less than this one... Its good you made a higher sales price on this, of course nobody knows how much time and materials you have invested in it.

My entire message to you and De followed up because he understood what I was saying, is that while I am happy you made "some" income, you are selling your workmanship at Central American migrant prices... You are selling yourself short and luikely do not have to. Youa lready said that you have a reputation of doing excellent work. Is that FREE? You could and should consider strongly about evaluating how much time and cost you have spent getting a boat back in shape to sell, THEN, consider the marketplace. WHO is going to get a comparable quality boat at what price?

The old saying "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" should be the guiding principle. Nemo, I am just trying to get you to see the Tracker more than likely could easily have been sold for a better price than you got for it. Yes, it migh have taken a day to a week longer, but it's a TRACKER. Ithas BRAND recognition as being a very excellent boat and they are not CHEAP new.

I just thought and still do believe that you are selling your quality and work way short.

Remember what you made in terms of money when you built houses? Hourly rate was what? Your ability and skill set has not decreased and neither should your labor. Plus, the MARKET is what really ultimately being the main factor in seling price.
Avoid trying to make the quick sale by giving something away when you could have still sold it and made more and still be fair to the buyer who got high quality at a fair price... That's a win win. No gouging involved whatsoever... Not being greedy either.

The Laborer is WORTHY of their Hire. If you think that is being greedy, take it up with God.. He said it..
I simply have always believed it.

Just food for thought Nemo. Hoping that it may possibly be of some small value and maybe you could make a little more on your projects and that meticulous crafsmanship you put into each of them... Good luck.
