How it works?
You wait until April 6th, start with the winner, and work your way backwards.
I used to run some major office pools on the NCAA basketball tournament. Everyone could submit multiple brackets, as long as you put down your money for each one you submitted. But, I haven't done that in well over ten years, now. It was a lot of time and effort. If I recall, I won it one time. Heck, this one year, a young female staffer won the damn thing by using team colors to pick the winners. That was pretty damn funny! Some of the guys were really torqued off about it.
