"Sen. Elizabeth Warren told Axios that it 'has deep roots in racism, and it should not be permitted to serve that function, or to create a veto for the minority. In a democracy, it's majority rules.' ...

'The filibuster is a later creation that was designed to give the South the ability to veto any effective civil rights legislation or anti lynching legislation,' Warren also told Axios. ...

Warren isn't the first Democrat to point to the filibuster's role in the potential obstruction of the Civil Rights Act. In January, Rep. Rashida Tlaib tweeted:

'The longest filibuster ever held on the US Senate floor was 60 days in 1964 to prevent the passing of the Civil Rights Act. The filibuster is a tool of obstruction. It does not encourage debate, it does not allow for more voices to be heard, it is for suppression only. End it.'"

Ah, this poor lil' squaw doesn't get much past the walls of her teepee, does she? The intellectually challenged Fauxcahontas doesn't understand that the United States of America is NOT a democracy - it's a Constitutional Republic - specifically and intentionally set up that way so that the majority mob should not trample all over the Constitutional rights of the minority.

The other thing that Fauxcahontas should acknowledge is that one of her Democrat heroes, Senator Robert C. Byrd (Exalted Cyclops of the KKK), was a huge proponent of the filibuster. Sen. Byrd joined other Democrat senators to filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 - he personally filibustered against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for 14 hours. Despite the seemingly endless days of filibuster in the Democrat-controlled Senate, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed in the U.S. Senate by a vote of 73 to 27 (Democrats: 46 yes to 27 no; Republicans: 21 yes to 6 no). By the way, Sen. Byrd voted "No."

The original version of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives passed 290 to 130 (Democrats: 152 yes to 96 no; Republicans: 138 yes to 34 no). So, Rep. Tlaib should also acknowledge that it was Democrats who were the obstructionists - it was Republicans who pushed it through.

And, as for the need to "end it"? Well ... Democrats are the FIRST to start whining and crying about how sacrosanct the filibuster is whenever they are in the minority.

First thing I see on the talking heads this morning is Liz Warren AKA Pochantas blathering away about the filibuster being racists. Another wide eyed lunatic is heard from.
