Re: “...I can fill my truck up in less than ten minutes at a gas pump. How long does it take to recharge the battery?”
You must have a huge truck. I can fill mine in less than 5 minutes if there's no line.

I've read that power stations have pricey outlets than can charge a vehicle in 30 or 40 minutes. Such outlets will not be available in people's houses. They're too expensive. Household charging of electric vehicles is going to be an 8 to 12 hour affair.

And that brings up a whole new issue: Future charging stations will need 6 to 8 times as much land to achieve the throughput they've got today. After all, parked vehicles will take 6 to 8 times as long to refill. Recharging stations will need to be big. The space requirement could be greater than I've described since some people will park their cars and head off to get food or do other things. They may be gone two or three times as long as they need to be. What we can be sure of is that cars will not enter stations and depart as efficiently as they do today. It's going to be a big problem.
