Agree that incentivising cops re minor vehicle offences is a misuse of police time. If that's what they do, maybe we don't need many of them. I hope they will keep the peace and solve crimes, but maybe I am old-fashioned. Everyone is better off if cops are funded by taxes and so they can focus on something other than raising money.

And I agree that weeding out the bad cops is important. And it's a good idea to stop bad cops switching states.

I am concerned something else will happen, as well. Pressure will be put on all cops to avoid doing the hard, risky stuff. And then you will end up with an even more lawless country.

As you know, for me the only path to change is via gun laws. If nearly everyone has a gun, policing is going to be on the spectrum between harsh and weak, with very little ground where you want it, in the firm but fair zone which is in between.

Chauvin is the first cop found guilty of killing a black man in Minnesota's history.

Things need to change.

Too many cops escalate the situation instead of trying to slow things down, especially for traffic stops.
Much of their revenue comes from these traffic stops, that's a problem.

If a cop is fired for cause, he shouldn't be able to get another job as a cop in a different state.
There should be a data base to avoid this.

When their behavior causes the state to make payment to the family of the victim, the cop should have to contribute.
Floyd's family will get $27 million, the Wright family will be next.
The citizens living in this state will ultimately have the burden, chances are their taxes will go up, adding insult to injury.

Everyone wants to believe if they need a cop they can trust they will get professional behavior, as we know that is not a given.

The blue wall came down in the Chauvin case.
There are many good cops, in order to keep them safe, they need to weed out the bad ones.
That's how to establish trust.

There are three more cops that were with Chauvin, they will be tried together in August. They must see the writing on the wall.

Consider this, we were all tense wondering what they verdict would be, even with all the video. If not for the video this would have been swept under the rug. Because when this happened they cops reported that a man died because of a medical problem...
That medical problem was Chauvin on George's neck for nine minutes & twenty nine seconds!
