I imagine they did see it as two birds, one missile.
What the world knows is a piece of the jigsaw. The Palestinians use the media to tell stories about dead children to put pressure on the Israelis. Then they build underground bases in places that children play.
It's a sick conflict. But these things are all connected. You can't simply isolate Israeli policies and say, bad Israelis. There are nasty, desperate Palestinian policies as well. At root, two peoples want to occupy one piece of land. Both can justify their claims, depending upon which premise a listener wishes to accept.
But given both sides do nasty and even evil things, I find myself less engaged than I might be. If only one side was willing to move somewhere. There's some empty space in Alaska the US might give to one side or the other if it wishes to try something different.
