In October I covered my main garden plots with black plastic. I didn't uncover them until April. That's what? Six months? Plenty of time to kill all the weeds. It works well.

Except that I'm finding that the chives I planted last year didn't die. They were brown but still had a little green to them. Uncovered, they came back very nicely. I guess I won't need to grow them from seed anymore!

I also spotted mint coming up yesterday. The funny thing is that I didn't ever plant mint. I did, however, put some pots of mint in the garden so that they'd be watered every day. Whoops. Looks like they had a prison break... which isn't necessarily good.

Mint grows like crazy and can be a challenge to get rid of if it's allowed to go unchecked. Like the chives, the mint I didn't plant didn't die when covered up for six months! That's impressive... and a little scary. I'd best dig it out whenever I spot it or mint will be the only thing growing out there.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
