Re: Garage Sales - Misc Hardware
My wife spotted this little gem at a sale today and thought that it might be uranium glass. She was right. She got it for $2.
Uranium glass is glass that, as the name suggests, contains uranium. It was popular in the early 20th century and then discontinued during World War II when the United States began hoarding uranium. Manufacturing resumed in the 1950s and continues today, but not for anything large. You can find uranium glass beads.
In addition to having a fascinating look, uranium glass glows powerfully beneath a black light.
Our dish was made between 1930 and 1935. Pictures follow - the first is under ordinary bright light, the second in very dim light, the third under a black light.
Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months |
