I reinstalled Windows on the Acer computer. As expected, what installed was Windows 10, not Windows 8.1. Then I installed Google Chrome and made it the default browser, removed MS Edge from the desktop, installed AVG Antivirus, installed AVG Secure Browser, installed the Classic Start Menu (to make the system look like Windows 7), installed uBlock Origin on Chrome, installed Lazarus Pascal and, finally, installed Office 2007 (thanks micro!).

Now for the next computer. At the same sale the Acer came from, I bought an emachines EL1358G-51w, again for $5. It's another small form factor desktop. The specs are:

• AMD Athlon II X2 220 / 2.8 GHz processor, dual core, 64-bit
• NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE chipset
• 3GB DDR3 SDRAM
• 1TB hard drive
• 3 GB DDR3 memory
• DVD-Super Multi drive
• Multi-in-1 Media Card Reader.

This computer dates from 2012 when it was $310. Tomorrow I'll give it the same treatment as the Acer and hopefully wind up with a nearly identical machine. I'm a little concerned that with just 3GB of RAM, it might struggle with Windoze 10. The machine can be upgraded to 8GB of RAM, and I wouldn't expect DDR3 to be too expensive. (Looks like 8GB runs $40 on Amazon).

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
