The emachines PC had no password, so I didn't need to reinstall the OS. It's running Windows 7 which I like. It was initially so slow that I thought it had a virus, but it was doing a number of scans for driver updates. Once the scans completed, it wasn't horribly slow... but it's still slow.

Since I don't have a Windows 7 installation disk, I'm not too inclined to refresh the system. I'm not sure it can do so without a DVD and I'd hate to wipe the system and THEN learn it can't reinstall itself. Perhaps after I get CCleaner on here, it will be faster.

I'm happy to see that the lady who owned the computer didn't leave a whole lot of personal stuff behind but I'm still amazed that the machine had no boot password. Folks don't understand that without accounts and passwords, anyone can telnet to your computer when it's on the internet and coast around your hard drive looking at and changing things.

upgrade the memory and you will have a nice, reasonably quick little computer there De ! That's the stuff I enjoy doing, rebuilding and upgrading computers.

Ya done good there !!! The memory will make more of an impact thanthe speed of that CPU. Which is not bad by the way... For five bucks you stole that thing...
