You're right, there ain't any mountains in Kansas, but the rolling hills of northern and eastern Kansas can be quite pretty. The flat lands of central, southern, and western Kansas can be fairly monotonous to drive through, but they are some of the best farming lands in the world. When the fields are full of ripe wheat, it looks like you are driving through an ocean of gold.

There is some great BBQ in Kansas. My favorite is Roy's Hickory Pit BBQ in Hutchison, Kansas. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. They start cooking early in the morning and they serve until they run out, which is early in the afternoon. They don't even attempt to stay open for dinner.

Even in Texas, we have to put up with libtards (mainly inside the Democrat-run cities - Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin) among us, but yes - Kansans are typically a pretty independent, Conservative lot.

Beldin:

Re: “Really good, salt-of-the-earth people, very rich soil, and beautiful rolling hills in the north and east portions of the state. ”
I see that Mount Sunflower is just over 4,000 feet. That ain't bad! I think you'll agree though that that's the exception for Kansas, not the norm.

I never had any objection to the Kanzey people, and they seem to lean dependably red. But having driven through Kansas a few times, I can honestly say that it makes Nebraska seem exciting.

BTW, Kansas City has some fantastic BBQs. The ones I've been to are on the Missouri side of the river, but I bet Kansas has a few as well.
