As Twitchy reported earlier, President Biden’s nominee to head the ATF reiterated his desire to see a ban on AR-15s in a response to a question from Sen. Ted Cruz. We think it was after the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando in 2016 that the AR-15 really became demonized; more than a few journalists purchased them so they could write about how easy it was to get one. One reporter even test-fired an AR-15 at the range, where the “horrifying” act and the noise and the smoke gave him “temporary PTSD.”
We see this question asked a lot, and it always gets answered. Army vet David Weissman has a blue-check for reasons not made clear in his Twitter bio, but he is next in line to ask, “why do civilians need AR-15s?”
David Weissman ~ Enlighten me, why do civilians need AR 15s?
Mr. Weissman's snarky stupidity received LOTS of appropriate responses ...
House Atreides ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Enlighten me, why do civilians need computers and smartphones for free speech activities?
See how enumerated, constitutional rights work now?
Darth Collapsitarian ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Enlighten me, why should a government be the only ones with guns?
Also, GFY.
Jay ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Enlighten me, why do you need to infringe upon our rights?
Rights are not predicated on need.
The Redneck Doctor ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Enlighten me, when has ANY possession someone has have to be quantified by 'need'?
Nimmo'sGhost ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because I don't want to be at the mercy of a stupid, raging mob.
Sweatimus Prime ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) They're for shooting bitch ass oathbreakers that come to try and take my stuff. And anyone else's stuff, for that matter.
But you do you, cupcake.
Tommy in da Corner ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Enlighten me: when did your opinion on what I need gain any bearing at all on my rights?
Freiherr Bär von Bärnsdorf und Oberbärgau ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because it's every citizen's right. It's the Constitution, not the Needstitution.
Also, it's a civilian weapon. It's even manufactured by several companies in Germany for the civilian market.
That being said, even the EU knows it's a civilian rifle.
jößęph ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because the woke mob is still breaking the same Starbucks windows in the half-deserted cities a year later while the suburbs are fine.
You’re never going to take them away from us. Ever.
COL Flagg/CPT Goldberg/MAJ Brooks/ Ling Chow ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because they want them. What gives you the right to decide what people can and cannot want and own?
m/ -=EdVT=- m/ ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) It’s not a bill of needs, bitch.
Chris “Vanilla Gorilla” McKeever ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Enlighten me, why can’t you understand what a RIGHT is?
When something is a right, you don’t have to justify to internet randos why you NEED it.
GFY Constructive Comment Box Reader ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because history repeats itself.
Snarky Tea Smuggler ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) None of your fucking business.
Jerome Montasque ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because we’re citizens, not civilians.
Moose ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) What has the government done to earn our trust to hold a monopoly on self defense?
monster ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because all it takes for freedoms to end is other men with guns taking it from you. But you wouldn't understand that.
DisplacedAppalachian -Possum Stan- ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Enlighten me, why don't they? That's the fun fact about a right, @davidmweissman, you have to argue for their restriction. Not their availability.
J.R.S ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because armed civilians created this nation. It’s a cornerstone of our founding and promise to those who want to take part in the great American experiment. Free men & woman don’t ask permission to defend themselves nor to be a check on out of control powers, foreign or domestic.
Redneck with a paycheck ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because none of your business and the Constitution says I can.
Jonathan Weimar ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Former Republican turned liberal gaslighter acts like no one saw cities and neighborhoods burn in 2020.
T_p R_ck B_ng ~ (Replying to @davidmweissman) Because it gives muppets like you the vapors.
That’s reason enough.
