Joe Biden has pronounced June to be a “month of action” as he looks to meet his stated goal of having 70 percent of the nation fully vaccinated by the Fourth Of July.
On Wednesday, Biden sought to overcome hesitancy to get “the jab” by promising a ‘summer of freedom’. This is a marked change in his rhetoric from his prior threats to cancel Independence Day if a sufficient number of Americans didn’t get in line and roll up their sleeves.
The COVID spell of the last 14 months beginning to wear off and his top medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci is in the center of a rapidly intensifying firestorm. A trove of the doctor’s emails obtained through a FOIA request were released and aren’t looking good. Now the pressure is on Biden to meet his metrics and declare victory over the coronavirus.
Biden ran on the pretense that he was better suited to handle the COVID crisis than former President Donald J. Trump. He has staked a boatload of political capital on being able to deliver but it is going to take a major push over the next month to nudge him across the finish line.
