Not sure if the cause and the effect are the right way around. I think of Palin and Trump as the product of a strange culture, unique to the US. Maybe it was created by Fox and Limbaugh and those sorts of people. Maybe they also just discovered it. I don't know.
But the whole world is put at risk as a result. Because they are monsters of the sort that develop in some cultural swamps every now and again. And wherever they exist, it usually doesn't end well for everyone else.
We saw they have no democratic principles on January 6th. So the US can't afford to give them a second bite.
At the moment, America is appeasing them. But it has to find a way to confront them head on.
