The US pledge of allegiance was written by a socialist.
Discovered because I gather there's a quarrel between a woke person and a Trumpist governor about the American flag.
The woke person said it should be replaced because of all of the bad things America has done which it should be ashamed of.
The Trumpist governor quoted the socialist's pledge as providing the flag's lofty, patriotic meaning, attempting to remove it from any possible criticism [although the pledge was written long after the flag was designed].
Maybe we should just put all the people on both sides into a room with a big padlock and throw away the key.
It's a flag whose actual meaning is well-known.
What people ought to know. No country is perfect. Americans can be proud without being. The point is to try one's best knowing perfection is impossible and that one learns from mistakes. No high horses required. No hostages to fortune supplied either. Patriotism without the whitewash.
Why don't these sorts of people ever seem to know the simplest stuff about life?
