Greetings from Evansville.
I made it !
Hi De!
GOD does not distinguish between sins we commit. ALL of it needs to be under the blood of Christ. It is only people who want to categorize sins. There is one sin unto death that He will not forgive.
That is rejection of Christ as Lord and savior. Other than that I find nowhere in scripture that when we as believers in Christ ask and earnestly seek HIS forgiveness for our sins, all of them including the ones we do not remember, HE is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us (in His shed blood) from all our unrighteousness. I John 1:9
Anyone can look this up. HE is Faithful and forgiving.
That said, it is people who want to carry around stuff and not repent of it that causes problems. In the original textus receptus, also known as The Received Text, there is no breakdown of calling sins by degrees or categories. So I am not sure what that name you said Catholics call it is or means.
Where did the rule regarding the partaking eligibility for Communion, or The Lord's Supper get its authority from?
The Apostle Paul in I Corinthians 11 and verse 28 when he said "so let a man examine himself" . That is when one needs to to do just that and to confess to Christ all your sins, including ones you do not remember or from things you were supposed to do but did not do, those are sins of omission. A Person is to be in a right relationship with the Lord before taking communion.
Sure they can be confessed . The blood of Christ was shed for the remission of ALL the sins of every person ever born. Seeking in earnest cleansing of all your sins by the blood of the Lamb with a contrite heart happens for anyone who comes to HIM by faith.....
I need to shut this down as I do not wish to offend those who are not interested in Bible theology. Just trying to help with an observation.
Later..
