For us, the Indian variant is mostly spreading in the young, part-vaccinated and even younger unvaccinated population. The number of cases is rising again. But the death rate remains low. So I guess we are building our herd immunity in an unpleasant way.
But we are nearly done with vaccinations. We have a higher percentage than Israel of people having one jab, and we are maybe 10-15% behind on the second. So it's that 10-15% where the Indian variant is mostly spreading (and maybe also in children). It's incredibly contagious. But the vaccines work pretty well against it for double dosers.
The risk is flu-like at this point.
I guess for you the same is mostly true, but you have a larger number of anti-vaxxers and Q-Anon supporters. So they will get the Indian variant eventually.
