Plant Vogtle now delayed until 2022 as costs mount, Georgia Power says

... Skip ...

The reactors, approved in 2012, were initially estimated to cost a total of $14 billion, with the first new reactor originally planned to start generation in 2016. Delays and costs spiraled, especially after the main contractor filed for bankruptcy in 2017.

Approved in 2012 . . . Wasn't that during obozo's reign?

Think 'somebody' told a few lies and made a few campaign contributions?

And then I personally would not have started construction on a new nuclear power plant without Yucca Mountain taking in all the existing nuclear wastes.

JEA consultant says no hope for change on over-budget Vogtle plant

http://www.bizjournals.com/jacksonville/news/2021/06/22/the-hold-up-jea-on-plant-vogtle-timeline.html

Plant Vogtle in Georgia was budgeted at 14 billion. It has reached 28 billion and isn't finished. I don't think that Nuclear Energy is cheap by any means, but it might be cheaper than solar or wind since neither has proven to be reliable nor cheap and in some cases even feasible.
