These sorts of expenses are all arguably business-related. The prosecutor is choosing to treat them as personal use.
So what you say is a "scam" is what the prosecutor alleges is a scam.
I think many of the charges look likely to be defensible when explained by defence counsel.
You can't say that paying for school fees has a business use. But it turned out Trump was responsible for those.
It's a weak case from what I can see. And I don't trust US prosecutors whose goal is to turn Weisselberg. Their mindset is extortionate. He's being treated like he's a pawn on their chessboard. As if his own life and values and integrity are meaningless. As if he had no independent capacity.
Just because NY attorneys allege something doesn't mean they understand a person's actual motives and behaviours.
They are after Trump. I'd prefer that they address Trump direct rather than try to turn Weisselberg into a sort of mafioso informant.
I like that he is standing his ground. I think he is doing so because he has been personally careful. That's my reading. But we'll see.
