YES.

We have plenty of limstone here in Ohio. You canuse an inline filter also and just replace the fiulter cartridges.

That's pretty easy solution as opposed to adding salt to the water softener. You can check some onlione iffen ya like.. It will simply keep buildup of the calcium and lime from occuring in yer water tank and shortening the lifepan and maybe ya like bathing in soft water.. Some people do and some don't. Just abnother way to skin a hard water issue....

Re: “how HARD is the water there? Ya would do well to install a water softener”
While I haven't tested the new well, water in New Hampshire tends toward hard. And I have thought about getting a water softener.

The problem is, my impression is that water conditioning is a pain in the neck. I've read many articles talking about houses with water softeners that are in disuse, sitting idle for the past umpteen decades because they're just too much of a hassle to maintain. I know myself pretty well, and that would probably be the case with me.

Now, if I found some article saying "Here's the quick and easy way to permanently solve your Hard Water problem," I might reconsider. But I haven't found that yet.

Do you soften your water?
